Seven concrete moves that decide whether CVailor surfaces ten lukewarm jobs or three roles you'd actually move continents for.
Seven moves that move the needle.
Go broad, not boutique
ATS career sites don't list jobs by clever invented names. They use boring, role-level titles. Mirror that. Use job titles a recruiter at any company in your space would use, not what you'd put on LinkedIn.
- Software Engineer
- Product Manager
- Data Analyst
- Senior Backend Engineer III at Stripe
- Code Ninja
- Growth Hacker Wizard
List up to 10 honest skills
On Starter and Pro, your top skills widen the search and the matcher scores each job partly on skill overlap. Under-list and you'll under-match. List the tools, frameworks, languages and methodologies you'd actually be comfortable using on day one.
- Python
- TypeScript
- AWS
- PostgreSQL
- CI/CD
- GraphQL
- Only one or two skills
- Buzzwords you can’t back up in interview
2–3 countries, not 10
Each country dilutes your daily quota. Pick the 2–3 you’d actually move to. You can swap countries any time — but on any given day, fewer countries means tighter, higher-quality matches.
- United Kingdom
- Germany
- Netherlands
- United States, UK, Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Canada, Australia, Ireland
Be honest about remote
Mark Remote, Hybrid and On-site based on your real visa constraints. A sponsoring country usually needs you on-site or hybrid in that country — remote-only filters often eliminate the very roles that can actually sponsor you.
- On-site
- Hybrid
- Remote OK (when your visa allows)
- Remote Solely if you need sponsorship in a specific country
Toggle the visa filter on
CVailor reads the ai_visa_sponsorship signal on every job. Turn it on in your feed settings and the scraper pre-filters jobs that are tagged sponsorship-likely before scoring even begins.
- Enabled in Job Feed Settings
- Left off — pulls roles that explicitly say "no sponsorship"
Broaden, don’t narrow
If CVailor shows the "under-quota" banner, your filters are too tight. Add a related job title, drop a country with low hiring volume, loosen experience level. Never the opposite.
- Add a sibling title (e.g. "Full Stack" alongside "Backend")
- Drop one country
- Widen experience level
- Removing skills you actually have
- Adding a fluffy specific title
Apply the day a job goes live
Sponsorship roles fill faster than anything else on a careers page. The top of your daily feed is your best chance — check in every morning, tailor your CV, and submit the same day. Volume without speed loses.
- Check feed every morning
- Tailor + apply same day
- Star roles you want to revisit
- Bulk-applying once a week with the same CV
Apply what you just read.
